Our Big Fat Uzbek Wedding and the Silk Road

Last May Ron & Kathy, their daughter Skyler, and two of Ron’s brothers traveled to Uzbekistan for 10 days to participate in four days of Uzbek and Persian wedding festivities and afterwards tour three ancient Silk Road cities. 

In their words, this was an emotional once-in-a-lifetime experience they will never forget.  How did this come to be? You’ll want to join this presentation to learn their story of serendipity, connections, and what happens when you say “yes.” Or if nothing else, you'll learn where Uzbekistan and the Silk Road are located and get a glimpse of this almost first-world country that was once part of the Soviet Union.

Ron Kelemen is a frequent presenter for us. He and Kathy are former Peace Corps volunteers, and they have been to 52 countries and all seven continents since 1972, all but three of them together.
